HORACE, N.D. -- Two quarterhorses died in a barn fire Tuesday afternoon south of Horace that kept crews on scene for about four hours.
Horace firefighters received a call just after 3 p.m., reporting heavy smoke and flames at the barn.
Crews arrived to find the barn fully engulfed, Horace Fire Chief Ryan Hegel said.
Horace firefighters, with assistance from West Fargo and Davenport, battled the blaze for more than an hour from the outside because it was too dangerous to send in the firefighters.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
