FARGO-Two Grand Forks County men, including one who was involved in a 2016 standoff, face federal drug charges.

Zackery Thomas Crandall, 30, of Grand Forks, and Dennis Duane Kreun, 59, of Manvel, N.D., were charged this week in U.S. District Court in Fargo with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, according to federal court records. Documents detailing the allegations have not been unsealed because more people could be charged in the case, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Fargo.

Crandall was arrested Monday at 819 Duke Drive by the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force. After officers showed Crandall their badges, he "aggressively pulled his daughter" off a school bus and ran into a nearby apartment complex, according to charging documents from Grand Forks District Court.

Crandall, who had barricaded himself in an apartment, claimed he didn't do anything wrong and wouldn't open the door for officers, according to court documents. Officers were able to enter the unit, but Crandall punched an agent in the face, court document say. He resisted arrest as he was taken into custody by four officers.

Investigators said they found a "black vial" that contained a gram of meth on Crandall's person.

The arrest resulted in three Class C felony charges-possession of meth, simple assault on a peace officer and preventing arrest-as well as a Class B misdemeanor charge of refusal to halt in Grand Forks District Court. He faces up to approximately 15 years in prison.

Crandall also was charged with terrorizing, a Class C felony, when he triggered an armed standoff Feb. 12, 2016, at 1113 Fifth Ave. N. in Grand Forks. He made no threats to officers but threatened to kill himself while holding a gun to his head, according to court documents. No one was injured and Crandall surrendered peacefully. As part of an agreement, he was ordered to complete mental health and chemical dependency evaluations and treatments in exchange for avoiding jail time.

That case was reopened after prosecutors said he did not fulfill the terms of the agreement. The case is listed as inactive.

Kreun was arrested Wednesday in Fargo, according to an arrest warrant, though details on that arrest are unclear.

His criminal history in North Dakota and Minnesota is limited to traffic violations and a 1997 Polk County case in which he pleaded guilty to a first-degree controlled substance charge.
