HAWLEY, Minn. - Two Fargo residents were hurt when their motorcycle collided with a deer on Highway 10 near Hawley, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
The motorcycle was westbound at about 7:21 p.m. Sunday when the deer came out of the north ditch and hit the right side of the motorcycle, the patrol stated in a news release.
The 1997 Harley Davidson went onto its side, and both the driver, Mark Bernstein, 54, and his passenger, Ginger Meyer, 53, rolled away from the motorcycle, the release stated, noting they were not wearing helmets.
Bernstein sustained head injuries and was airlifted to MeritCare Hospital, and Meyer was taken there by F-M Ambulance. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office, Hawley Police Department and Hawley and Perham ambulance services assisted at the scene.
