RUGBY, N.D. -- Two people are dead after they were ejected from their car when the driver lost control on a gravel road near here, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said Sunday in a news release.

According to the patrol, the car, a 1999 Buick Century, was being driven by a 20-year-old man from Dayton, Tenn., on 27th Avenue Northeast six miles northwest of Rugby about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when the man lost control.

The car went into the road's west ditch and overturned. Neither the driver nor the passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Rugby, were wearing their seat belts, the patrol said. Both died after being ejected from the car.

Neither identities have been released yet, and the patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
