The remains of two unidentified people were found by hikers in the area of a Colorado peak where a St. Louis Park father and son disappeared in April, authorities said Thursday.
According to the Denver Post, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office said the bodies were discovered in the Mount Evans area Thursday morning.
The bodies were being recovered by rescue teams. The remains were to be turned over to the county coroner’s office for identification, the sheriff’s office said.
On Thursday evening, WCCO-TV reported that a family representative confirmed the bodies were those of Damian McManus, 51, and his son, Evan McManus, 18.

The discovery came as four west metro firefighters wrapped up a three-day search for the St. Louis Park father and son, who were on a spring break hiking trip at the time of their disappearance.
St. Louis Park Fire Chief Steve Koering organized the volunteer trip after the McManus family reached out to his department asking for firefighters who might have mountaineering and elevation-rescue experience.
The firefighters’ expenses were covered by private donations, and they all took personal days off work to make the trip, using their own equipment, Koering has said.
An extensive search turned up nothing after the McManuses were reported missing April 6.
They were discovered missing when Damian McManus’ wife, Katherine, returned to the Twin Cities from a separate spring break trip to Mexico with her daughter, Lauren, who was Evan McManus’ twin sister.
The mother and daughter hadn’t heard from the father and son but thought it was because they were in the rugged Rocky Mountains and had no cellphone service.
