Authorities are beginning to lift no travel advisories in parts of eastern and central North Dakota now that the year's first major snowstorm, Blizzard Alivia, has passed.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol have lifted the no travel advisory for much of the state, including Grand Forks, Fargo, Jamestown, Devils Lake, Valley City, Bismarck and Minot.
A no travel advisory for the area was issued about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Some cities in central North Dakota remain under the no travel advisory due to concerns over drifting snow and low visibility. Those areas include Velva, Harvey, Carrington, Fessenden and McClusky.
The Highway Patrol reported U.S. Highway 52 is blocked from Carrington to Velva due to several stuck vehicles.

While the no travel advisory has been lifted in the upper Red River Valley, the area remains under a travel alert, authorities say. Drivers in Grand Forks, Grafton, Pembina and surrounding areas are reminded to slow down and beware of low visibility.
