A consulting group will be collecting traffic data on South Columbia Road this week in Grand Forks, according to a city news release.

SRF Consulting Group started collecting data Monday and will continue until Friday at the road’s intersection with 36th Avenue South, 40th Avenue South and 47th Avenue South.

SRF is using camera and video equipment to record and study intersections, according to the release.  This equipment includes a black, hard-case box with SRF logo, a silver mounting pole and a camera with cords attached to the box that are temporarily attached to signs, light poles or trees using straps.

No personal data such as license plates are being collected.  The video is solely intended for recording traffic and pedestrian volumes on the road and for operational purposes, the release said.
