The Air Force's chief of staff paid a visit to Grand Forks Air Force Base Monday, the governor's office said.
Gen. Mark A. Welsh, a four-star general, is the most senior uniformed officer in the Air Force.
"The Grand Forks Air Force Base is an important strategic asset for our nation and our state," said Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley in a statement. "It is important that we take every opportunity to emphasize the capabilities of the base, including its active role in advancing unmanned aerial systems."
The base is home to Global Hawk unmanned surveillance aircraft.
