A Tokio, N.D., man pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Fargo to slapping a 2-year-old child.
Allen Herbert Demarce Sr., 28, is facing the charge of child abuse and neglect in Indian Country for the incident in March 2011 on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.
According to the Department of Justice, the child suffered injuries on his face, arms and back from the attack.
Child abuse and neglect in Indian Country has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
Demarce is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 27.
