The cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks will hold their spring clean-up week starting Monday.

Crews will pick up appliances, brush, furniture and household items for free during the annual collection, Monday-Friday, according to the Grand Forks Public Information Office. Items will be picked up on your normal collection day. Residents should put out items by 7 a.m. where you normally place your refuse, officials said.

Grand Forks' clean-up week actually starts Saturday with a one-day electronics recycling event 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Public Works building, 724 N. 47th St. Residents may only recycle one unit of each type of electronic equipment. For example, one computer includes monitor, drive and printer, but you may only recycle one television or one stereo. Businesses will be charged a fee, the city said.

In East Grand Forks, the city will hold a household hazardous waste and electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Building, 929 Fifth Ave. NE. In addition to electronics, the city will accept car batteries, waste oils, paints and other household hazardous waste.

The Grand Forks City Landfill also will have extended hours for the week if residents want to haul items themselves. The landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Monday through May 7. The landfill will be closed on Sunday.
