Three-vehicle accident injures one

A car accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of DeMers Avenue and South Washington Street in Grand Forks involved three vehicles, but only slightly injured one person.

A car accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of DeMers Avenue and South Washington Street in Grand Forks involved three vehicles, but only slightly injured one person.

Nicholas Stokke, 29, Thief River Falls, was making a left turn onto DeMers Avenue eastbound from South Washington Street at about 3:40 p.m., when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic on South Washington and collided with a vehicle driven by David Ackert, 21, Cottage Grove, Minn., according to the Grand Forks Police Department. Ackert's vehicle was then pushed into one operated by Kristi Arndt, 29, Hatton, N.D.

Ackert was treated by Altru Ambulance on the scene and released, according to police. Stokke was cited for failure to yield to the right of way.

The Grand Forks Fire Department also responded to the scene.
