A new exhibit of paintings by artist Kelly Thompson will open at 7 p.m. Thursday at Third Street Gallery on Kittson in Grand Forks and will continue through March 23 with pieces available for purchase.

Thompson, a Grand Forks resident and business owner, graduated from UND and is a Realtor with Greenberg Realty; owner of Ink, Inc., a garment screenprinting company; and Urban Stampede, a coffee shop, both in downtown Grand Forks.

All of his work is created using a square format, which led to the title of the exhibition, "Kelly Thompson2," or "Kelly Thompson (squared)."

The art mixes landscapes, abstract images and still-life acrylic paintings on wood, which are custom framed by the artist.

Thompson created the works to this format and 18-inches by 18-inches so they can be assembled into groupings and configurations.
