THIEF RIVER FALLS-A Thief River Falls man was injured Wednesday morning in Pennington County after he rear-ended a pickup that was stopped for a school bus, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
Kyle John Beger, 28, was taken to Sanford Health in Thief River Falls for non-life-threatening injuries after his 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt hit a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday on Minnesota Highway 1 about one mile west of the city, according to a news release. The driver of the pickup, 59-year-old Bradley Guy Johnson of Thief River Falls, was not injured, the release said.
As the two vehicles headed westbound on the highway, a school bus stopped at 160th Avenue Northeast to pick up a resident, according to the State Patrol. Johnson stopped behind the bus, and as the bus and pickup started to drive down the road again, Beger rear-ended the Johnson's vehicle with his car, the release said.
The bus was not hit in the crash. Both Beger and Johnson were wearing seat belts, and no alcohol was involved in the crash.
