Theodore Michael Breidenbach, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 17th at Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls.
Ted was born June 1, 1906 in Reynolds, North Dakota to Anton and Elizabeth (Schabo) Breidenbach. His wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Ackerman Breidenbach and 9 brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by four sons and their spouses: Fran and Carol of Whitefish, MT, Joel and Anita of Fort Collins, CO, Mike and Pam of Sioux Falls, and Steve and Cherie of San Diego, CA. 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive him. Between 1929-1960, Ted and Elizabeth lived in Oakes, North Dakota and in 1960, they moved to Aberdeen, SD where Ted owned and operated a successful commercial refrigeration business. Ted had exceptional mechanical skills and was highly respected in his field. In 1999, Ted and Elizabeth moved to Sioux Falls. Ted was an avid golfer well into his late 80s, a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and an avid bridge player. He was a man of great integrity, honesty and compassion. His religious beliefs and devotion to the Roman Catholic faith set a wonderful example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Last June, Ted celebrated his 100th birthday with great fanfare, surrounded by nearly 50 of his family and friends. The Funeral Service celebrating Ted's 100 years on earth will be held on Thursday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel at Prince of Peace Retirement Community in Sioux Falls. A Gravesite Service and Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
