-- What: Seven-part TV documentary about World War II by filmmaker Ken Burns of "The Civil War" (1990), "Baseball" (1994) and "Jazz" (2001) fame. Film looks at sweep of war, but also tells the story from the perspective of four towns: Mobile, Ala.; Waterbury, Conn.; Sacramento, Calif.; and Luverne, Minn.; the latter, home to a Park River, N.D., native and weekly newspaper publisher Al McIntosh, whose weekly columns during the war serve as the connecting narration (voiced by Tom Hanks) throughout Burns' documentary.

-- Where: PBS stations, including Prairie Public Television, Channel 2, or digital channel 16-2 over the air; or Cable Channel 13 in Grand Forks.

-- When: 7 p.m. today through Wednesday. Resumes Sunday through Oct. 2. Two hours each night, except for tonight, Wednesday and Oct. 2, when it's 2 hours each.
