'Just Married'

Opening Friday in Bemidji: "Just Married, Best Wishes," an exhibit of vintage wedding gowns, will be featured from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji as part of the First Friday Art Walk. UND Auditions

Saturday at UND: Area high school juniors and seniors are invited to audition for UND theater and get a jump-start on the college process from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at UND Burtness Theatre, Grand Forks. Diva Day

Saturday in Roseau, Minn.: Roseau Area Women's Network will present Diva Day, a day for women to pamper themselves with beauty treatments, massages and more, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Roseau City Center. Comedy 'Chicks'

Nov. 8 at the Fritz: The Southern Fried Chicks starring Etta May will be at the UND Chester Fritz Auditorium, Grand Forks, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8. The Southern Fried Chicks tour is a combination of women from the South and their hilarious take on life, love and the pursuit of happiness, a news release said. UND Steel Drums

Nov. 9 at UND: The UND Steel Drum Band will be in concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at the UND Chester Fritz Auditorium, Grand Forks, with music from calypso to bossa novas and a selection called "Black Orpheus" arranged by UND student Brian Pfeifer. Students Greg Jans, Phil Jensen, Adam Pachl, Joel Robinette and Austin Winger will have solos. Program will include: "Bee's Melody," "Pan Can Jam," Carlos Santana's "Europe." Tickets: Adults, $6; students/senior citizens, $3; family of two adults and two students, $12.

Program for Vets

Nov. 10 at Valley Middle School: The music department at Grand Forks Valley Middle School will present a Veterans Day Celebration Assembly at 10 a.m. Nov. 10 in the Valley large gym. Veterans and active military personnel are invited as guests; call (701) 746-2360 for reserved seating. The school band, orchestra and choir will perform patriotic music. There will be laying of wreaths for those who gave their lives in battle, a guest speaker and a flag folding ceremony. Music teachers Tim Knabe, Lindsey Freier and Melanie Popejoy are organizing the event, Freier said in a news release: "We feel that it is so important for our students to see the people from our own community who took part in the events that are detailed in the pages of the history books they read, or whose stories are heard on the nightly news."

New Music

Nov. 14 at the Empire: "New Music" by Matthew Peterson, seven chamber music works by composer and Grand Forks native Matthew Peterson, will be presented at 8 p.m. p.m. Nov. 14 at Empire Arts Center, Grand Forks. The event, presented by Peterson and the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, will benefit the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Youth Orchestra. Ten top musicians and two guest musicians will play works ranging from solos to octets. Featured performers: Percussionist Adam Cowger, vocalist Maria Williams Kennedy and saxophonist Stephen Page Tickets: Adults, $10; students, $5; available online at ggfso.org; at the door beginning one hour before the performance.
