FARGO - A 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly hurting his 1-month-old nephew while babysitting him Monday, Fargo police said.

Officers were called to the Sanford Medical Center emergency room at about 10:45 p.m. after the baby's grandmother brought him there because he was acting fussy and had a mark on his head, Sgt. Chris Helmick said.

Investigators believe the teenager somehow injured the baby while watching him, Helmick said. He said he couldn't confirm public comments on the dispatch log that stated the teen "got frustrated and threw baby against a toy and hit his head."

The baby's injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening, but he was hospitalized, Helmick said.

The 14-year-old was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and taken to Cass County juvenile detention, Helmick said.
