ST. PAUL -- A proposal to ban youths younger than 16 from using tanning beds passed it first committee.
The bill requires those 16 and 17 to have parental permission before tanning.
“This bill will prohibit minors from using indoor tanning facilities, require proprietors to hang signage to that effect and impose some penalties,” Rep. JoAnn Ward, D-Woodbury, said.
Fines of up to $300 could be assessed to businesses that do not follow the law.
