As the summer winds down, East Grand Forks Heritage Village will be hosting its 2013 Heritage Days Friday through Sunday.

Events kick off on Friday with a classic car show at 5 p.m., followed by a dance from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday opens with a threshermen's breakfast in the Beier Building from 6 to 9 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 10 a.m. featuring Abe Lincoln reciting the Gettysburg Address. Demonstrations and historical re-enactments will occur throughout the day Saturday and Sunday.

Children will be especially interested in the parade from downtown East Grand Forks to the Heritage Grounds starting at 9:30 a.m. There will also be a Civil War camp drill practice for the children and kids tractor pull, as well as an ongoing petting zoo, games, displays, videos and more.

• Movies in the Park will be hosting its last free show Tuesday with a showing of "Mary Poppins." The show will take place at Riverside Park starting at sundown or around 9 p.m.

• Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln will be visiting the Grand Forks Public Library Children's Department this Friday. Mrs. Lincoln will be grading book reports while President Lincoln judges art history projects. Come meet them at 10 to 11 a.m. at the Grand Forks Public Library. More info: (701) 772-8116.

• The Annual Open House will be held Sunday at the Rydell National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center in Erskine, Minn. The event starts at 1:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Its theme is "A Bird's Eye View," and it will feature games, golf cart tours, crafts, cookies, and more. More info: (218) 687-2229.

• Child ID Event with the Grand Forks Police Department will take place Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Grand Forks Public Library. Officers will take photos and fingerprints of each child and give copies to the parents. More info: (701) 772-8116.
