Street Department worker helps Moorhead police nab hit-and-run suspect

MOORHEAD - Police say a Moorhead Street Department worker who witnessed a car backing into a taxicab assisted police by following the car into Fargo, where its driver was arrested after getting the car stuck in a snow bank.

MOORHEAD - Police say a Moorhead Street Department worker who witnessed a car backing into a taxicab assisted police by following the car into Fargo, where its driver was arrested after getting the car stuck in a snow bank.

Moorhead police were called at about 2:30 a.m. to the M&H gas station on Main Avenue in reference to a fight, Lt. Tory Jacobson said. An intoxicated male confronted a carload of males outside the gas station and a fight broke out, he said.

The group of males got back into the car, and the car backed into a Doyle cab before leaving the scene. The Street Department worker followed the car into Fargo, where it became stuck in a snow bank at Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street South, Jacobson said.

Fargo police were processing the driver, a 27-year-old Fargo man, for DUI, and Moorhead police are seeking a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, Jacobson said.

The cab sustained minor damage.
