FARGO – A man accused of fatally stabbing his wife in 2012 was ordered Thursday to remain at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown, where he’s receiving treatment for mental illness.
Henry Leo Deniger, 52, was found not guilty in April 2013 after a Cass County District Court judge said he couldn’t be held criminally responsible for his acts.
Prosecutors alleged that Deniger stabbed his 52-year-old wife, Kathye, on March 6, 2012, in their Fargo apartment, then washed off the knife in the kitchen sink. Deniger was found the next day at a McDonald’s in St. Cloud, Minn., and he allegedly admitted to killing his wife.
Last year, Deniger was indefinitely committed to the State Hospital, with annual reviews. At a review hearing Thursday in Cass County District Court, a judge found that Deniger was a danger to the public and ordered him to spend another year at the hospital.
