Construction has begun on a new grocery store that will be part of the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort.
The 8,000-sq. ft project is planned to be open by the spring of 2011. A groundbreaking ceremony was held this past week.
The grocery store will be open seven days a week and employ 17 people, according to Paul Matheny, general manager of the Spirit Lake complex on the south shore of Devils Lake.
The complex, located along N.D. Highway 20 south of the city of Devils Lake, is owned and operated by the Spirit Lake Nation.
