The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol station at Portal, N.D., seized 575 space heaters that had counterfeit markings.
A CBP release said that on Dec. 4, border officials targeted a rail shipment that they suspected had counterfeit Underwriters Laboratories Inc. markings.
UL is an independent product safety organization that tests and evaluates products for risk of fire, shock or injury.
Authorities confiscated 575 heaters, the total shipment valued at more than $15,000.
