SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The 4-year-old girl who died following a drowning accident last week at a Watertown lake has been identified.

The girl is Braelynn Erlandson, daughter of Mike and Ashley (Hinckley) Erlandson of Plankinton, S.D. A funeral service is planned at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton.

Braelynn's obituary says she was born Nov. 3, 2009, and was "an active girl who enjoyed bike rides, taking pictures, runs with her dad and spending time with her family, especially her brother and sister, Beckett and Brynlee.

"She also loved to sing, color and writing people's names. She was a joy to all those around her and had an infectious smile that would light up any room."

The obituary says Braelynn died Friday at Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Watertown police have said the city's ambulance service responded to an accidental drowning at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of North Lake Drive on Lake Kampeska. The girl was out of the water when emergency responders arrived, the police said, and CPR had been started. She was transported to a Watertown hospital and later airlifted to Sioux Falls.
