A small jet made a precautionary landing Tuesday at Grand Forks International Airport after one of its engines shut down in midair, according to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman.
Rescue personnel and equipment were on standby when the Cessna King Air 300 landed safely about 2:30 p.m., said Rick Audette, the airport's operations and maintenance manager.
Audette said two passengers were on board, presumably a pilot and co-pilot. The cause of the engine failure was not known Tuesday afternoon, he said.
The aircraft is an FAA plane equipped with instruments to check landing and navigation systems at airports. The plane departed from Bismarck, but its destination was not immediately clear, FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro said.
