NEWARK, N.J. -- A five-run second inning lifted UND past New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday, a win that gave the Sioux a split with the Highlanders in their four-game Great West Conference series.
The Sioux ended Great West play 13-15 and 18-33 overall. NJIT dropped to 9-18 and 13-41.
UND will carry the No. 5 seed into next week's Great West Conference tournament in Edinburg, Texas.
The Sioux scored their five runs in the second on four hits and a pair of walks. Josh Nelson drove in the first two UND runs with his 11th double of the season. Jabby Bakhit followed with a two-run single. UND's fifth run scored on a sacrifice fly.
David Lind picked up the win, allowing one run in seven innings.

"David (Lind) pitched really well again for us today and gave us a chance to win it with our bats," UND coach Jeff Dodson said. "We had that big inning in the second and got some timely hits throughout the game that stretched out the lead for us.
"Now, we'll regroup a little and take some momentum down into Texas for the league tournament and see what we can do."
UND junior Jake Magner hit a solo home run in the fifth, his 19th of the season. He is within one of the single-season school record held by Carter Rogalla, which he set in 1998.
UND would add two more insurances runs in the seventh when senior Andrew Gudmunson scored on a balk and freshman Ridge Halenar scored his second run of the game on a RBI single by Bakhit.
Halenar led an 11-hit UND offensive attack with the first three-hit game of his career. Both Halenar and Gudmunson, who went 2-for-3, scored twice for the Sioux.
