Local law enforcement is reminding rural residents that no matter how much they trust their neighbors, small security precautions go a long way.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office issued a statement warning of an influx of car break-ins in Manvel and other rural portions of Grand Forks County.

Numerous items have been reported stolen from unlocked vehicles in Manvel.

Sheriff Bob Rost said that residents should be sure to lock their cars, garages and homes, which is an easy way to deter thieves.
