WALKER, Minn. -- The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two half brothers who died of apparent gunshot wounds on the shores of Leech Lake near Walker on May 12. According to a release issued Thursday, investigation into the deaths and preliminary autopsy results show the men died of a murder/suicide scenario.

The deceased have been identified as Leo Jordan, 57, and David Smith, 60, both of Walker. Jordan was transported to a Fargo hospital via North Memorial AirCare, where he was later pronounced dead. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension and the sheriff’s office began investigating after a medical assistance call was placed from a residence on Midway Drive Northwest in the unincorporated town of Onigum, just across the lake from Walker.

The sheriff’s office reports the incident appears to have been contained and the general public is not in danger in relation to the incident.
