Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., will be one of several U.S. senators traveling to Ukraine this week.

The trip, reported by national news outlets, comes during tensions over Russia’s incursion into its southwestern neighbor. Ukraine was embroiled in deadly protests that led to the ouster of its president.

Hoeven previously called on Russia to “respect Ukraine’s sovereignty,” and said the U.S. and its allies should pursue economic and diplomatic sanctions against its former Cold War rival unless it withdraws from Ukraine.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is leading the trip. The delegation also includes Sens. Richard Durbin, D-Ill.; John Barrasso, R-Wyo.; Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; Christopher Murphy, D-Conn.; Jeff Flake, R-Ariz.; and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., according to reports.
