DICKINSON, N.D. The crash of a semitrailer in Adams County during a snowstorm killed 23 cattle, authorities say.
Friday's storm dropped as much as 8 inches of snow on southwestern North Dakota and caused icy roads.
About 3 a.m. Friday, a semitrailer hauling 78 cattle on state Highway 22 from Dickinson to Colorado rolled in the ditch, authorities said. The cattle that survived were rounded up by local residents.
The driver, Lyle Geller of Nebraska, was not hurt. Damage was estimated at $40,000.
