Authorities have released more details of a crash that killed a Hatton, N.D., teenager Friday night.
Dustin Alan Petersen, 17, was behind the wheel of an Oldsmobile that collided with a Ford Explorer driven by 17-year-old Eva Almanza. Both vehicles were full of young people, according to a release from the Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Highway 18 near Hatton as the two vehicles were heading north. After the impact, the Explorer went into the west ditch and rolled over, ejecting and critically injuring Almanza. The Oldsmobile also went into the west ditch but returned to the road, the release stated.
Almanza died from the injuries she suffered. No one else was killed or injured in the crash, according to the Patrol.
Petersen, of Hatton, had three passengers -- ages 15, 16 and 20. Almanza was driving with four other teenagers. All the passengers were from Hatton, Reynolds or Northwood, N.D.
