A motorcycle ride in memory of East Grand Forks police officer Ken Olson on Saturday raised $4,000 for scholarships, according to event organizers.
Olson was killed on duty 35 years ago.
More than 200 attended the 115-mile memorial ride that started at O'Leary Park in East Grand Forks. It's the first in what organizers hope will be a yearly event.
The scholarships are given to those studying to enter law enforcement, firefighting or emergency medical service professions. The East Grand Forks Police Officers Association earlier raised $2,500, which was awarded to Brett Anderson from Crookston, who is studying at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.
Money raised in Saturday's ride will go to next year's scholarships.
