First Assembly of God Church, 605 Third Ave. N.E., Crookston, will celebrate 80 years of ministry Sunday with speaker Rev. Jack Strom.

President of Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, N.D., Strom is the son of the Rev. C.L. Strom, who was pastor in Crookston from 1965-69, when the current church was built.

The congregation was started in 1931 by Christian Hild, who was 18 at the time.

The Rev. Kevin Gunion and the Rev. Ken Smith also will speak.

Northwood church women to hold Syttende Mai Smorgasbord

Lutherans for Life head to speak in GF church

Dr. James Lamb, executive director of Lutherans for Life, based in Nevada, Iowa, will speak on "The Other End of Life," at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St. Lamb will speak on end of life issues, including extraordinary care, ventilators, feeding tubes and the difficult decisions families often face, said Immanuel's pastor, the Rev. Mekinock church to hold Memorial Day service

Middle Grove Lutheran Church of rural Mekinock, N.D., will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony and luncheon May 30. The graveside ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m., led by the Manvel (N.D.) American Legion; lunch follows from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Munich man finishes seminary in Fargo

Steven Wirth, who grew up in Munich, N.D., was honored Thursday with Lee Fortin, Lake Norden, S.D., for graduation from Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo. Through the cooperative program with North Dakota State University, the two men also will receive bachelor's degrees in philosophy and humanities this spring. To complete studies for the Catholic priesthood, the men need to attend a major seminary.
