MINNEAPOLIS -- A federal jury found a Red Lake man guilty Friday of possessing and distributing child pornography.
James Patrick Needham, 53, was indicted in May 2013 on one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office said. A federal jury returned a guilty verdict Friday on both counts after a three-day trial.
Needham possessed images and videos containing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. According to the release, Needham distributed several images of similar material in August 2010. The illegal images were reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through a cyber tipline. The images were tracked to Needham's user name and IP address in Red Lake, the release said.
The Red Lake Police Department discovered more than 1,300 images and 100 videos containing child pornography on a computer at Needham's home. Needham will be sentenced at a later date.
