FARGO - A community prayer service is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. today for an Ogema, Minn., teen seriously injured while inline skating.

The service for Landon Hochstetler will be at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes.

The Becker County Sheriff's Office said Hochstetler and his friend Sherman Eberle, 16, of rural Ogema, were skating in the westbound lane of Becker County Road 34 in low light conditions.

A westbound car driven by 30-year-old Ross Thomas Dodd of Ogema struck Hochstetler, who suffered a broken left leg, cuts and bruising to the face, arms and legs, a moderate cut to his arm, a damaged lung, possible blood in the brain, and a skull fracture.

According to a journal entry on the CaringBridge website, Hochstetler is in stable condition, but is in a coma and is unresponsive, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn.

The county prosecutor is reviewing investigative reports for possible charges against Dodd, who doesn't have a valid driver's license. Dodd has an extensive criminal driving record, but speed and alcohol don't appear to be a factor in the accident, the sheriff's office said.

In addition, a benefit fund has been established to help the family. Checks payable to the Landon Hochstetler Benefit Fund may be sent to Wells Fargo Bank, 211 W. Holmes St., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501.
