The Potato Bowl Parade returns to University Avenue, with floats, cars and walkers hitting the pavement Saturday morning.

The Kem Shrine-sponsored parade will start at 10 a.m. at North 14th Street and head west toward University Park, according to the Potato Bowl schedule. It ends at the Memorial Stadium parking lot.

This is the second time in three years the parade has been rerouted from downtown Grand Forks to University Avenue. Construction on the Kennedy Bridge will reroute large amounts of traffic to the Sorlie Bridge, which the parade would have needed to cross into East Grand Forks.

Participants will hand any items or candy they have to paradegoers because throwing items is prohibited. Parade organizers are reminding watchers to keep a safe distance from floats and vehicles.
