Poll: Hoeven leads Potter 72-25 percent

New poll results released Sunday show Republican Gov. John Hoeven holding a strong lead over Democratic-NPL state Sen. Tracy Potter in North Dakota's U.S. Senate race.

New poll results released Sunday show Republican Gov. John Hoeven holding a strong lead over Democratic-NPL state Sen. Tracy Potter in North Dakota's U.S. Senate race.

Rasmussen Reports conducted an Oct. 20 telephone survey of 500 likely North Dakota voters that found Hoeven leading Potter 72 percent to 25 percent. Just 3 percent of respondents said they were undecided.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percent.

The latest results show Hoeven picking up four points since a Sept. 20-21 Rasmussen Reports poll that found him leading Potter 68 percent to 25 percent. In that poll, 2 percent of respondents said they planned to vote for some other candidate and 5 percent said they were undecided.

Hoeven has maintained a strong lead in each monthly Rasmussen Reports poll since the national pollster began tracking the race in February.
