Two Polk County prisoners were furloughed last week but have failed to return to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston, authorities said Wednesday, issuing arrest warrants for both.
Pedro Gutierrez III, 42, of Grand Forks, and Thomas Andrew Simpson, 24, of Crookston, were on supervised probation when they were arrested for failing to abide by the conditions of their probation.
They were allowed to leave jail, Gutierrez for a doctor's appointment and Simpson for an unspecified reason, but they never came back.
Authorities do not know where they are and asks the public for help.
Gutierrez was convicted of check forging in 2009 and placed on supervised probation for five years. He was back in jail this month for probation violation, but was allowed to leave Nov. 9 for a medical appointment at Fargo's Sanford Health. He was supposed to come back to the jail after being discharged from the hospital, but a call there by a jail supervisor Nov. 12 found that he was never admitted to the hospital.
