The Polk County Sheriff's Department is warning residents to be on the lookout for an email scam that requests credit card information.
The emails, which look like an official communication from Visa, claim the recipient has had irregular activity on their card.
Recipients are asked to verify their credit card number, expiration date, security code and ATM pin, as well as their Visa pass code to have their account restored.
Authorities implore anyone who receives a similar email not to respond.
The sheriff's department has also received information that similar emails have been used in the area using the business name Wells Fargo Bank as opposed to Visa.
