POLITICAL NOTEBOOK: UND Student Senate supports Measure 1

The UND Student Senate voted Sunday to support Measure 1, an initiative on the North Dakota ballot to put 30 percent of the state's oil and gas revenues in a newly established legacy fund and impose limitations on the use of that money.

"Student Government felt this initiative was important because it invested money for the future of the state of North Dakota," Grant Hauschild, vice president of Student Government, said in a Wednesday written statement.

Tea party endorses local GOP candidates

The Valley Tea Party Conservative Coalition's executive committee voted Monday to endorse several Republican candidates in North Dakota and Minnesota for the 2010 election.

North Dakota endorsements include: Kevin Cramer (Public Service Commission); Rick Berg (U.S. House); Gov. John Hoeven (U.S. Senate); Al Jaeger (Secretary of State); Doug Goehring (Agriculture Commissioner); Cory Fong (Tax Commissioner) and Michael Coachman (Grand Forks County Commission).

Minnesota endorsements include: Tom Emmer (Governor); Lee Byberg (U.S. House -- 7th District); Christopher Barden (Attorney General); Dan Severson (Secretary of State); Dan Griffith (Appellate court); Tim Tingelstad and Greg Wersal (Minnesota Supreme Court); Russell Walker (state Senate, District 1); and Deb Kiel (state House, District 1B).

Berg's Fargo headquarters now open 24 hours a day

U.S. House challenger Rick Berg's campaign headquarters in Fargo will remain open 24 hours a day in the final week leading up to Election Day, the campaign announced Wednesday.

The Fargo campaign headquarters is located at 1321 23rd St. S. and is open to the public.

Berg is running against Democratic incumbent Rep. Earl Pomeroy for North Dakota's lone spot on the U.S. House.
