A Grand Forks man is facing charges after investigators say there was methamphetamine in his home and heroin hidden inside his body cavity when he arrived at the correctional center.

An affidavit said Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force officers found about 6 ounces of methamphetamine Friday in the bedroom of 29-year-old Michael Charles Eugene Bennett's apartment on the 1100 block of North 39th Street during a probation search. Bennett tried to run from officers but was apprehended, the court document said.

While Bennett was being processed by corrections officers at the jail, the affidavit said there was a bag containing about 2 grams of heroin found in his rectal area.

Bennett is facing charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and heroin and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He could spend up to 10 years in prison on each trafficking charge if convicted.

Bennett previously pleaded guilty for selling marijuana and several paraphernalia and controlled substance charges.
