According to Grand Forks police, seatbelt violations continue to decrease during the department's annual participation in the "Click It or Ticket It" campaign.
A department release said during this spring's two weeks of extra enforcement from May 21 to June 3, 14 percent of issued citations were seatbelt violations.
That's down from 17 percent during last year's enforcement and from 19 percent in 2010.
In 2008, 28 percent of citations were seatbelt violations and in 2009, 22 percent were seatbelt violations.
A total number of 512 citations were handed out during this year's enforcement and the average speed over the limit by people who were ticketed was 12 miles per hour.
