Grand Forks police are investigating a reported armed robbery at the Select Inn, 4001 Gateway Drive, that was called in a few minutes before midnight Wednesday. A motel employee said a masked man with two guns took off with an undisclosed amount of money. By 3 a.m., nobody had been apprehended in the case.

Near midnight, a police dispatcher said officers were converging on the site and she had sent out a description of the robber over police radios to officers.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday several squad vehicles were parked at the motel and officers were inside photographing in the lobby and otherwise investigating the scene, while an officer stood on guard outside the door.

One officer searched vehicles near the motel using a flashlight.

At about 3 a.m., police released more information in an email to news media.

The employee and two others in the lobby area at the time were not injured. The amount of money taken was not known yet, police said.
