A registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday in a Grand Forks motel on five felony charges of gross sexual imposition in Nelson County.
According to the Nelson County Sheriff's Department in Lakota, N.D., Michael McClary was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Ambassador Motel on South Washington, on warrants out of Nelson County. He's charged with five counts of gross sexual imposition, including a AA felony, alleging he had sexual contact with more than one minor over the past year.
McClary has been a registered sex offender in North Dakota for years and was convicted of sexual assault in 1997 in Saskatchewan, serving nearly four years in prison there before being deported to the U.S.
He was in the Grand Forks County jail Tuesday and was to be taken to jail in Devils Lake and held without bond until a hearing is scheduled.
