Pipe bomb suspected, confirmed and detonated in Mahnomen

The White Earth Tribal Police Department responded to a person in possession of a possible pipe bomb on Friday, March 11 at a residence in the City of Mahnomen.

The White Earth Tribal Police Department responded to a person in possession of a possible pipe bomb on Friday, March 11 at a residence in the City of Mahnomen.

Tribal police arrived on scene and took a picture of the suspected bomb and sent it to the Crow Wing County Bomb Squad (Brainerd, Minn.). Bomb squad officials confirmed it was a pipe bomb. Tribal police secured the scene until the Crow Wing County Bomb Squad arrived. The bomb squad took possession of the pipe bomb and detonated it at a remote gravel pit.

The incident is currently under investigation. The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.
