Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch confirmed Friday the potential threat to Pillager Schools that was posted on a social media website has been contained.

Burch said through the sheriff's office investigation they found no weapons at the school and believe there are no other suspects involved. A female student was taken into custody Thursday and charges are pending with the Cass County Attorney's Office.

Parents with children at Pillager Schools were notified by the district with a letter stating a concerned parent Wednesday night saw a picture posted on a social media website of the Pillager High School Commons area with the words, "I hate everyone" along with an emoji of a revolver. The post was made anonymously and was not directed to anyone specific.

Superintendent Michael Malmberg said Thursday the posting is alarming and will be taken seriously.

"The safety of our students is our top priority and we will have an increased law enforcement presence throughout the school today," Malmberg said.

Law enforcement was present at the school Thursday as a precaution, and Burch said they also will be at the school Friday.
