UND is looking for a few good men and women actors for a production of the William Inge play "Bus Stop" and "Swimming in the Shallows" by Adam Bock, both scheduled to be presented at UND in 2008.

Auditions will be Nov. 26 with callbacks Nov. 27; times will be announced. Performances of "Swimming" will be Feb. 19-23; "Bus Stop" will be presented April 15-19.

Opening auditions to the community is nothing new, said Mary Cutler, UND professor of theatre arts. UND expects there to be a lot of demand on students next semester so it may need to fill some spots in the cast from the community, she said.

"Bus Stop" often is remembered as a film starring Marilyn Monroe. Like television's "Cheers," the bus stop becomes a gathering place for a diverse group of people as they air their concerns.

The characters of "Bus Stop" include the bus driver Carl; the wise-cracking diner owner Grace; the innocent young waitress Elma; the town sheriff; Cherie, the nightclub singer; and Bo, the wild young cowboy who has made her his unwilling fiancee.
