Minnkota Power hires, promotes

Minnkota Power Cooperative, Grand Forks, has hired three employees and promoted two.

Dustin Marquis was hired as an apprentice electrician in the construction and maintenance department. A native of Goodridge, Minn., Marquis earned a degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Wadena, Minn.

Logan Rubbert was hired as a part-time aircraft maintenance assistant in the aviation department. Rubbert is from Reynolds, N.D., where he worked at Randy Rubbert's Aircraft Maintenance and Repair.

Brandon Trontvet, Grafton, N.D., was hired as an electrical engineer in the control systems engineering department. He'll earn a degree in electrical engineering from UND in August.

Pat Lundby was promoted to utility worker/applicator and Tom Sletten to area line worker, both in the transmission department.

BNSF honors Hjerstedt, Ryan

Peiter Hjerstedt and Patrick Ryan, terminal manager and trainmaster respectively for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. in Grand Forks, were honored as 2008 BNSF Employees of the Year at ceremonies April 27 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Hjertstedt and Ryan received the award for coordinating efforts to open a new grain elevator in Winnipeg. The new elevator will add storage capacity to the region and provide shippers with another rail-access point for their product.

Jacklitch-Kuiken awarded

Debbie Jacklitch-Kuiken, a native of Baxter, Minn., was named the 2009 North Dakota Young Engineer of the Year by the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers for her work as a meteorologist and mechanical engineer at Grand Forks-based National Wind Assessments.

Jacklitch-Kuiken is being considered for the National Young Engineer of the Year Award to be presented July 17 at the National Society of Professional Engineers' annual conference in St. Louis.

Weber returns

Bobbie Weber has returned to the glass department of Sterling Carpet One Floor & Home in March. Weber rejoined the former Grand Forks Glass & Paint where he had three years experience dating back nearly a decade.

Weber tallied more than 25 years of service with Minnko Building Systems and most recently worked with GW & Sons Construction of Grand Forks.

Bondy joins The Village

Steve Bondy has been hired by the Village Financial Resource Center in Grand Forks as a financial counselor.

Before joining The Village, Bondy worked at Bonis Finance Development for eight years. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in marketing from UND.

Askim hired

Justin Askim has been hired at a wildlife biologist and natural resource specialist by Western Plains Consulting, Bismarck.

He worked before with the U.S. Geologic Survey in Jamestown.

Askim earned his degree from North Dakota State University.

Botsford opens new company

John Botsford has opened Red River Land Co., a farm real estate company specializing in the sale of agricultural land in North Dakota and Minnesota. The office is located in the Bremer Bank Building, 3100 S. Columbia Road, Grand Forks.

Botsford will also work to develop Farm Management Services, a business line launched earlier this week by Bremer Trust, a division of Bremer Financial Services.
