A Walhalla, N.D., man was shot to death Saturday night near a home in nearby Pembina, N.D., according to Pembina County Sheriff Brian Erovick.
A 911 call came in to the sheriff's office at 8:20 p.m. Saturday to report a shooting in Pembina.
Erovick's department, based in Cavalier, N.D., provides law enforcement for the city of Pembina, which does not have a police department.
When deputies arrived, they found the body of Bryon "BJ" Kalis, 19, of Walhalla, N.D., outside the residence.
A suspect, Miguel Humberto Medina, 25, of Pembina, was arrested at the scene and jailed in Cavalier. He won't be formally charged until he appears in state district court in Cavalier on Monday, Erovick said.

"But he's being held for homicide," the sheriff said.
No other suspects have been named, or are being looked for, Erovick said.
Erovick said a weapon was recovered but said he could not give out any more information because of the ongoing investigation.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the state Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation.
