A woman was struck by a car while walking down the middle of U.S. Highway 2 in Itasca County early Tuesday.
Tracy Peterson, 46, of Deer River, was walking in the middle of the roadway about 1 a.m., the Minnesota State Patrol reported, when she was struck by a car driven by James Tanski, 37, of Saginaw. Peterson was taken to Essentia Health-Deer River with non-life-threatening injuries.
She was later flown by helicopter to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, where her condition was not immediately available. No citations have been issued by the state patrol.
